Busy painting our Viking shields!

World Book Day

7th March 2024

29th February 2024

Sue from the Bible Society in Aberdeen and Nikki from the CCC came out to work with our class today.  We learned all about the importance of the Bible to Christians and took part in a dramatisation of the story about David and Goliath.  We then took our learning outside where we recreated scenes from the story using a variety of materials that we found in the playground. We all had a lot of fun.  Look at the giants we made!

February 2024

Today, we battled through the wind and rain to complete our road safety survey.  We wanted to compare the safety of our surrounding school roads to that of our neighbouring school Holm Primary.  This helped to provide the children with a better understanding of the wider impact of traffic and what measures are in place to keep us safe.

February 2024

An Hour of Code

This afternoon we tried our hand at computer coding.  The boys and girls were learning to code by completing a fun Minecraft project.

January 2024

This term our topic is 'The Vikings' .  We have thoroughly enjoyed researching and finding new information about the Viking longships.  Today we created Viking longships of our own.

It's so lovely to be back and see all the boys and girls settled and working hard.  We have another busy term ahead of us, please see our termly overview below.

This week the boys and girls have been identifying the properties of different materials, for example rough, smooth, waterproof, flexible,  and their uses linked to their properties.

24th November

We have been learning to tell in the time using digital and analogue clocks.

Children in Need

What a fun day for a fantastic cause!  We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us raise an amazing £589.67 for Children in Need.  We did the Joe Wicks workout and we enjoyed visiting the stalls that P5B had set up.  Well done everyone!

15th November 2023

This week is Scottish Book Week and to celebrate we visited Primray 6A for some paired reading. We each took a book that we loved and shared it with our P6 buddy. Primary 6 were very impressed with our reading!

We really enjoyed our paired reading time and hope to do it again soon!

13th November

Kingcraig Wildlife Park

What a busy, fun packed term we are having!  We all had an amazing day, at Kincraig Wildlife Park on Monday!   The children were all incredibly well behaved and they didn't let the cold weather ruin all the fun.  Another big thank you to all our parent helpers - we couldn't have done it without you! Have a look at our photos from the trip on our Google classroom.

Open Morning

3rd October 2023

We had a super Open Morning, thank you so much to all who could make it in to see the children today. Apologies if I have missed some families with my camera as it was such a busy morning!  It was so lovely to meet you all.

29th September 2023

This term we have been learning all about technology and how it has enhanced our lives for the better. Today the boys and girls thoroughly enjoyed meeting and getting to use Marty the Robot.  A big thank you to our Primary 5 helpers!

 21st September 2023

We had fantastic fun in class when Mr MacIntyre (who works as a Robotic Engineer at the UHI) came to visit us.  He introduced us to some of his robot friends!  We all enjoyed meeting Meccanoid who was able to walk, dance and even speak!  Meccanoid was a cheeky robot and didn't always listen to his instructions.   Mr MacIntyre then went on to fly a drone around our classroom!  We discussed the use of drones in the wider world, and we were surprised to learn that some drones are used to plant trees in Scotland!  We also got to do some coding of our own with a cute, little robot named Botley - he was much better behaved! Finally he even showed us how his 3D printer works.  Mr MacIntyre has promised he will come back and to do some more STEM projects with us soon.  We can't wait!
