P1B Class Blog 2022-2023

Science

P1B have started learning about plants! Last week, we learned about the different parts of a plant, then we went outside to look at the plants in our playground. 

Red Nose Day

Everyone looked super dressed in red today!  A big thank you to all for your donations. 

Health and Wellbeing

P1B listened to the story 'Ruby's Worry' and discussed how it feels when something is worrying us. In the story, Ruby learns that worries get smaller if you talk to someone about them. The class drew who they would talk to if they were worried about something. 

Tartan

P1B have been learning about tartan! The class made their own tartan by weaving paper. 

Addition

The class have been very busy working on addition! Everyone is becoming very confident when adding two groups together and writing down the number sentence. 

Burns Night

The P1 classes had lots of fun celebrating Burns Night at our very own Burns Supper! 

Phonics

P1B have been learning the x sound. We made an x-ray of our hand!


The Sleepy Shepherd 

The class did an amazing job of performing in our nativity 'The Sleepy Shepherd'. They all worked very hard to learn the words and actions for the songs. The class also did so well performing in front of an audience, even when on the stage! 

Children in Need

We had lots of fun helping to raise money for Children in Need! A big thank you to everyone who baked or donated to help raise money for such a good cause. 

Bonfire Night

P1B have been learning about Bonfire Night! The class made some firework pictures using straws to print the shapes of fireworks in the night sky.


COP27 Climate Change Conference

COP27 Climate Change Conference


As World leaders come together for the COP27 Climate Change Conference, schools in Highland were asked to create artwork to show what changes we would like to see to combat climate change. The artwork will be displayed in the Council Chambers for the duration of the conference. 


P1B chose to remind people about the importance of picking up litter and recycling as a way of looking after our planet. The class used their handprints to create a happy planet, one free of litter, and an unhappy planet which was covered in litter.  


Science

The class have started learning about forces. We learned that a force is a push or a pull that makes something move. We had fun investigating forces using toy cars and dominoes!  

Fancy Dress Disco!

We had lots of fun at the Fancy Dress Disco! A big thank you to the P7 pupils for organsisng such a great event.

Diwali

P1B have been learning about Diwali! We  learned what people do to celebrate Diwali and made our own Diwali lanterns and Rangoli patterns. 

Phonics

P1B have been busy learning their sounds! 

We have also had a go at blending sounds together to make simple words. 

SSPCA Visitor

The class had a special visit from Kirsty, who works for the SSPCA. She came in to talk to us about taking care of our pets. Kirsty was joined by two rabbits (Bob and Ella) who helped her explain what animals need to stay healthy.

P1B have been busy learning the c, k and e sound. We made some beautiful crowns and some eggs! 


Science

 P1B have been learning about the 5 senses. Today, we learned about the sense of touch and investigated the different surfaces in our classroom.

Gone fishing! P1B have been working on number recognition and ordering numbers.

P1B had a great first week! We have been busy getting to know each other and our new classroom. We have also been playing with our P7 buddies.
