It was truly wonderful to meet all our families at parents' evening and to share the incredible learning taking place. You should all be so proud! I am overwhelmed by the kindness you have shown in the last 6 months, and I can’t thank you enough for your beautiful cards and thoughtful gifts—they mean the world to me. Your support and warmth make such a difference, and I feel so lucky to be a part of this journey with your amazing children. Thank you again! 💕✨
P6B, I just want to take a moment to tell you how truly incredible you all are. Teaching you has been an absolute joy, and I cannot thank you enough for the most amazing couple of months. Your enthusiasm for learning, your kindness, and the way you support one another has made my Lochardil experience so special.
Each one of you is unique and brilliant in your own way, and I have no doubt that you will go on to achieve incredible things. Keep believing in yourselves, keep working hard, and most importantly—always be kind.
I will miss you all so much, but I know that the future is bright for each and every one of you. Thank you for the laughter, the energy, and the memories

This week in Primary 6, we focused on internet safety, learning how to stay safe online. In Health and Wellbeing, we discussed puberty and personal hygiene—remember to bring a change of clothes and shoes for PE on Mondays and Wednesdays.
We had our first Bible Alive session and practised large multiplications like 459 × 269. To celebrate Chinese New Year, we explored traditions and culture, welcomed a dance troupe from Glasgow, and even tried making dumplings and using chopsticks!
In music, we learned the final Scottish Opera song, "The Chase", and we are excited to showcase our performance soon!

Internet Safety Awareness – A Crucial Conversation
This week, we have been focusing on internet safety, particularly when using social media apps like Snapchat. Snapchat allows users to send photos and messages that disappear after a short time, but it also has a location-sharing feature that many may not be aware of. This feature is highly accurate, showing the exact location of a user's device—including the specific building they are in—to anyone they have added as a friend.
During our discussions, many pupils in P6B admitted they were unaware of this feature, and some also acknowledged that they don’t always know everyone they have accepted as a friend. This raises significant safety concerns.
We kindly ask for your support in reinforcing online privacy at home. Please check your child’s privacy settings—not just on Snapchat, but across all social media platforms. The internet is a fantastic tool for learning and entertainment, but it must be used safely.
Encourage open conversations about online safety, stranger danger, and responsible internet use. Many children also mentioned that they regularly interact with strangers while playing online games. Regular monitoring and discussions can help ensure their online experiences remain safe and positive.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe.

What better way to celebrate Chinese New Year, than eating Chinese food?
Today P6B did not only learn about traditional Chinese culture, but everyone got the choice of either a vegetable or chicken dumpling. We tried them with soy sauce and they were mostly a hit!
We each got a set of chopsticks and practised our fine motor skills !
Back at the start of January Louis even wrote on his "Bingoals" for the year to 'eat a dumpling' so he got to cross it off!
What a fun and delicious afternoon!

This week in Primary 6, we celebrated Burns Night by learning about Robert Burns and his life. We also practiced Warning Storm Song for Scottish Opera.
In our topic work, we explored the role of women, created incredible propaganda posters, and looked at advancements in technology. We designed and built our own Spitfire planes using 2D shape nets, and then measured how far they could fly!
We worked on multiplying and dividing by 100. To finish the week, we wrote imaginative stories about being trapped in a maze. It was a busy and exciting week! Miss Mack🌈✨
This week in Primary 6, we explored the topic of rationing, making our own books and coupons. A highlight was when Lexie brought in a real-life ration book from her great-grandfather, which made our learning feel even more real! We also learned about the life of Hitler and how air raid shelters were invented.
In literacy, we started preparing for our Scottish Opera song by looking at Robert Burns' poem Tam O’ Shanter and began learning the words. We also completed a Blackwell spelling test, and I’m delighted to say that everyone’s scores have improved since last time!
In maths, we focused on multiplying and dividing by 10, helping to strengthen our number skills.
We also manged to enjoy the snow outside, either practising our sledging skills or building snow foundations! A fantastic week of learning—well done, everyone!

This week in Primary 6B, we kicked off the new year by creating our "Bingoals" – New Year’s resolutions displayed on a bingo board to track our progress throughout the year. We received our new reading books and made predictions about them. We also met up with Primary 3/4, where we worked in small groups using drama prompts to create short acting pieces. In topic work, we started learning about World War II, exploring the reasons behind its outbreak and the concept of evacuation. To finish the week, we wrote an imaginative piece of writing, bringing our creativity to life! Starting 2025 with a bang!

Well Jingle the Kindness Elf has had some adventures in P6B!
Have a look to see what he got up too!
We have loved seeing all the kindness and wish our elf a Merry Christmas!

This week, the P6Bs showed just how incredible they are by planning, organizing, and leading a wonderful Christmas party for the nursery.
We wrote and delivered invitations. Splitting into groups, each team came up with their own creative ideas for games and activities and they guided the nursery children through each activity. They also worked hard to decorate the party space.
Well done, P6B—you made Christmas extra special for the nursery, and your hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed!

A huge thank you to everyone who brought in snacks—we had an amazing feast to celebrate! The P6s were exceptional at our ceilidh dancing, impressing everyone with their enthusiasm and energy.
We also played some fantastic games and saw some truly awesome dance moves on the floor—it was a joy to see everyone having so much fun.
This party was the perfect way to embrace the festive spirit, and it reminded us all what Christmas is really about: coming together, celebrating, and creating wonderful memories. Well done, everyone! 🎄

Following on from our UHI visit earlier this term, we practised a bit of Christmas coding. We used our coding knowledge to guide the elf safely around the Christmas trees to the presents! We also used this as an opportunity to practise our compass and directional skills too.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been delving deeper into persuasive techniques, and what better way to explore them than through the magic of Christmas ads?
We started by analyzing famous Christmas ads, such as the iconic John Lewis campaigns, the music, to the subtle messaging that encourages giving, love, and festive spirit.
Next, we let our creativity shine by creating our very own animated Christmas ads. We drew our characters and used a website to animate them!
The highlight was planning, directing, and starring in our very own John Lewis-inspired Christmas adverts. From brainstorming, creating props, rehearsing and then filming, we’ve gained a new appreciation for how advertising can combine creativity and strategy to inspire emotions and action.

We had great fun creating our 2025 calendars, putting lots of effort and creativity into them! We are very proud of how they turned out and were excited to take them home today to share with our families!
Miss Mack🌈✨
Over the past few weeks, the children have been hard at work planning, researching, drafting, and perfecting their essays, and today they have brought them home to share with you! These essays are the result of tremendous effort, creativity, and critical thinking—there are some future top debaters in this class!
The essays are wonderful, so please take a moment to read through them as a family. We’d love for you to share a family comment and return it to school.
In addition to the essays, we’ve been refreshing our classroom wall displays to showcase this term’s incredible work. As part of this process, some fantastic artwork has also made its way home. We hope you enjoy seeing and celebrating these creative pieces as much as we have in class.
Thank you for being a part of our learning journey—we love sharing these moments with you!

Buddy Visit
To celebrate Lochardil 60th Birthday we visited Nursery to play some party games with them!
Nursery visits will also happen at the end of this week/ start of next, where the P6's will meet their Buddy and have time to get to know them. There is lots of excitement about this and it's so lovely to see the 6's so responsible and caring!

A massive thank you to Mrs Prentice who showed us all how to make our Apple Juice! We carefully cut the apples, and then used all force to squeeeezee them in the juice press! We all enjoyed our taster and discussed how it tasted different to shop bought juice. Miss Mack🌈✨
P6 and P3/4 classes came together to celebrate the magic of books and strengthen their literacy and digital skills.
The two classes enjoyed reading together focusing on a sharing their thoughts, and discussing the story’s themes and characters.
After the story, the collaboration continued as each pair or small group worked on creating a book review. The children discussed what they loved about the story, their favourite characters.
P6 students supported their P3/4 buddies in typing up their reviews, formatting them creatively, and even adding digital drawings to illustrate their work. This activity allowed our pupils to practice typing, editing, and using design tools, blending creativity with technical skills.
We’re already looking forward to our next literacy adventure!

We had an amazing time at the cinema watching Harold and the Purple Crayon! The whole class loved it, and we couldn’t wait to talk about the storyline and main themes when we got back to school.
Inspired by Harold’s adventures, we each created our own stories, imagining what we would draw if we had a magic crayon. A big thank you to the cinema for providing us with free vouchers—it made our trip extra special! Miss Mack🌈✨
Today, our Primary 6 class had the sweetest opportunity to visit the nursery and meet their potential buddies and we had a morning full of fun, games, and laughter.
By the end of the visit, smiles were everywhere, and the P6s had made connections that we hope will continue to blossom in the coming weeks.
We’re thrilled to see these early friendships beginning and can’t wait for more buddy days ahead!

After ten fantastic weeks of splashing, learning, and growing in confidence, our Primary 6 swimming sessions have come to an end. Each week, they have shown incredible progress—not only in their swimming skills but in their teamwork, resilience, and enthusiasm.
We're so proud of how far they've come and the positive attitude they've brought each week. Well done, P6!

Wow, what a robo-tastic day!
I am so proud of P6B and their enthusiasm for today at UHI.
They were so well behaved, and really impressed me with their knowledge!
We learned about circumference and perimeter and then learned how to code robots to follow different shapes, their problem-solving was excellent. We really have the future scientists in our class.
It would be great if you could share this knowledge with your families and you could discuss: everything we learnt today and what you made your robots do?
You could talk about the jobs that robots might take over (like vacuuming or serving tables) and how do you think robots will help us in the future? Are there any industries that already use robots (healthcare, agriculture, construction)?
I’d love to hear your family ideas so please feel free to add comments onto the Google Classroom about what you discuss! :)

Well done to Kenny on his first successful Chess Club session! We had 4 really exciting games on the go and sorted out all our chess sets for next week. Chess Club is available for all P6s and P7s on a Tuesday lunch time so come along and test your strategies!
