We had a great fun learning all about buoyancy!
We had a competition to see who could design and make a boat out of tin foil that would hold the most amount of marbles before it sank.
We learned that there is a competition between the upward force of buoyancy and the downward force of gravity. If buoyancy wins then our boats will float. We discovered that the triangle is a very strong shape. We also discovered that the boats with short walls and as large a base as possible were able to hold more marbles before they sank.

We have been learning about Direct Speech this week.
We looked for examples of direct speech in our reading book and used them to recreate a scene in the style of a graphic novel, with speech bubbles. We practised punctuation direct speech correctly with speech marks.
We are loving our class novel, 'The Chronicles of Narnia.'
We have been linking the experiences of Peter, Edmund, Susan and Lucy to our own knowledge of the 2nd World War. We researched evacuation to learn more about what it meant.
We have discussed the experiences of the children in relation to the Rights of the Child. We spotted some rights which are being denied to the children as a result of the war and the need for evacuation. We used Emotion Works to explore how the children might have felt. We looked at Regulation Strategies, to help us manage our own emotions too.
