Welcome back for Term 4 everyone - the final term in P2 before becoming big P3s! 😊 We've had a busy start to term for literacy practising our sounds tr and sc and story writing. For numeracy we were working on our numbers before, after and between 100, mental strategies and grid references. Other highlights of the week included starting our cherry blossom art by creating Chinese vases and branches, practising running for sports day and Baillie Cup, team games and discussing meanness online for digital citizenship. To cap off the week we practised our Rights Respecting song (see photo for our Hip Hooray ending 🤩).
What a lovely final week of term we have had in P2A - well done to the pupils for working so hard all term and achieving so much! This week we finished off our data handling in maths and continued dividing by 2, 5 and 10. We finished off our Healthy Me Project with teeth brushing and resilience. We ended the week with some lovely Easter activities including making Easter chicks and designing our own Easter egg. Have a lovely Easter break all, we look forward to seeing you in Term 4!
It’s been Careers Week at Lochardil Primary School this week. P2A were lucky to have two visits from Mairi who runs The Drawing Room gift shop and Mairi and Jo the paramedics. The children really enjoyed learning about the two different jobs including the skills required. For phonics we’ve focused on fr and gr this week. In numeracy we’ve been working on multiplying and dividing by 2. With Ramadan coming to an end, we looked at how Muslims celebrate Eid and created decorative lanterns. Well done to our two star award winners who received their certificates at achievement assembly!
Another busy week in P2A. We continued timetables this week in Numeracy, counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We also worked on Venn Diagrams for data handling. We concentrated on the sounds br and cr for phonics. For our Healthy Me topic we focused on Effects of Exercise, 'People who look after me' and 'I've got this' (resilence and wellbeing). We created some spring flower art as we head into Spring. P6B also visited us on Friday for a Red Nose Day quiz and the pupils designed their own red noses for the competition set by P7.
P2A continued their timetables this week in Numeracy, counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We also worked on questions we use, ask and answer for data handling. We concentrated on the sounds pl and sl for phonics. For our Healthy Me topic we focused on personalities and people who look after us. We also read The Dot in class by Peter H Reynolds and created artwork from our very own dots.
P2A started their timetables this week in Numeracy, counting in 2s, 5s and 10s! We concentrated on the sounds fl and gl for phonics. For our Healthy Me topic we wrote about our bedtime routine, and what will help us get a good nights sleep. Tying into this we learnt about how to take a break from digital devices with our new routine Pause, Breath, Finish Up, acting out the roles of parents and children. We also drew fruit for our Eat the Rainbow artwork and looked at symbols of Islam as part of Ramadan. Thursday was World Book Day - we visited the book fair and on Friday the P4s joined us for our first paired reading session.
Another packed week of learning activities in P2A. We've continued working on our number knowledge, including doubles and near doubles. Our sounds this week were bl and cl. We visited the P4 class on Friday to try out their magnet games. In Religious Studies we focused on Ramadan and what they eat when not fasting. Well done to our Star Award winners at our achievement assembly! 🤩
A short week with half term, but we packed a lot into our two days. We continued with our numeracy data handling topic, practised our handwriting and did a writing piece based on Room on the Broom. We danced and sang along to healthy eating songs, did a Joe Wicks keep fit and had a visit from Magic Allan with his Road Safety show.
P2A have had a busy week! We finished our emotion art – having read The Colour Monster we matched colours to our emotion faces from last week (Mental Health Week). The class used water colours to create their backgrounds.
In PE we did team games on Tuesday and continued our circuit training on Friday as part of our Healthy Me project. We focused on jumping and stretch exercises including sit-ups, bunny hops and compass jumps.
P2A continued their phonics work this week with the o-e magic 'e' sound. We worked on mental maths strategies and started our data handling topic in numeracy ahead of our next high quality assessment. We started looking at names of body parts in our Healthy Me topic. As part of Mental Health Week we created our class motivation chant and did an exercise on how our emotions are like the weather (in Scotland - four seasons in one day!).
