It's been a BLAST!

Last Blog Post from P5A. What a wonderful year we have had with your fabulous children! This week they were getting things ready for our display for the Open Afternoon.

We also learnt about volume by trying to get the correct amount of water.

Thank you so much for your support this year. It has been such a lot of fun!

Nearly there!

We were using old scales to get the concept of how to weigh relatively accurately. It was a long road, but we got there.

We were also looking at what we're going to present at the Learning for Sustainability exhibition next Thursday. This is also the Open Afternoon. I feel a dance coming on..😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊.

What a WEEK!

Lots happening for everyone! Help ma Boab!

We had a lovely wee visitor last week. Nugget! We learned a lot of very interesting things about Lily's gorgeous little friend.

We were also making a paper estimate of one metre squared. Not easy to do without a metre stick!

We were then trying to mark out 25 metres squared in the playground. too. This was done really well (although some were a little bit huge at first), great job kids!

Very sad to say it was the last time Gracie will be in Mrs Prentice's class as her last day is Monday with Mr Garden. We had a campfire with smores and hot chocolate to say goodbye! Thank you to Lia and Janet for our photos.

Finally getting back to the Blog!

Glad to be back and fighting fit! The children were almost perfect when I was off. Very proud of them!

We are continuing to do class talks, and again, I'm amazed at the beautiful work. Here's Grace...

The primary 7s did a fascinating exhibition of all they had learnt from their project about WW11. Our children are already obsessed so they can't wait till the WW1 project next year, and WW11 the following one in P7. What a lot of work from P7!

Termly Overview

Lots of work and FUN!

First we PVA'd our African style masks to make them shiny and sort the broken bits!

We played 'The Noisy Game' again, but this time using tables instead of adding the cards. 

For World Maths Day we measured to see if this Old Wife's Tale is true..."Twice round your wrist is once round your neck, twice round your neck, is once round your waist!" (I personally found it to be a load of old rubbish...... the waist part particularly - hee hee) but it seemed to work with the children!

The Red Nose Day activities in the hall were a lot of fun. Thank you to all of you for your donations.

Finally, huge congratulations to Angus M. Two golds, a silver and a bronze in gymnastics in Livingston. Well done! And check those socks!

What a performance!

We have been focusing this week on getting our show ready for the performance on the 27th. If we don't have it semi ready, I can't sleep at night! So we'll get it to 'nearly there' this week, then back to our usual timetable next week!

We had a lovely time on World Book Day. The hot chocolate went down well. Grace is our photographer.

And some of our girls held the second Book Club this week. 

I don't know how much the children actually wrote! But they had great fun being bossy!

More hard work and fun in P5A...

We were designing masks on Thursday for the African project.

Then we had to make them. Tricky as it is air drying clay that drys quite quickly!

We completed our lovely snowdrop pictures too!

They look AMAZING! Have a super weekend.

What a busy week!!!!

As a School of Sanctuary we made a display with words of encouragement for child refugees in our country.

We also wrote part of our play about the kitchen simulation!

We have been looking at common contractions in spelling, so we tried this tricky puzzle...

Our wonderful fiddle players are rehearsing as part of our African Orchestra.

The fabulous Janet for Highland Dancing. First place overall in her age group...

...and the wonderful Grace, who is going this weekend to an award ceremony in London as a finalist in a short story competition! Good Luck Grace!!!!

Woohoo!

We have a date! Sorry for the delay but there are a lot of factors to consider when you are planning something in a school. 

The 27th March at 9:00am in the gym hall for our African Showcase.

The children have been working hard dancing, singing and dramaing(!) so hopefully it will be a lot of fun. Anyone who wants to come is welcome.

Our simulation was really interesting, and I'm sure the children will write a very funny play for you.

Photos at last!

I've got a lead now that helps me to transfer the photos. Yay!

We have real letters from Africa! They were very interesting.

African patterns influenced our pictures.

We learned how to say personal details in French using a game...

... and we collected leaves (RAW DATA) so that we could organise them into a graph.

I had such a fun time tricking the children with our simulation, and it definitely had 'impact'! I think we have a lot of material to write our play!

Termly Overview

Christmas Fun!

Christmas is now in full swing and the children are dialled up to 11! We had such a fun day with our mammoth walk to the town centre (no complaints at all, really!!!!) and our fabulous singing. Pictures to follow. Thank you so much for your support. It was so lovely to see so many Lochardil relatives there. Very cheery. I'm having problems with my phone, but I will put photos on as soon as I get someone techy on to it!

Meanwhile, let me share some of the photos from our party last week. What a lot of fun was had by all. They were so well behaved and the dancing was hilarious!

In class we have been making wonderful Christmas newspapers with funny stories...

Then we made snowflakes for a 'WINTER' display in the corridor...and I promise they won't still be hanging there in June!

What a Titanic Day!

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our fun day with such enthusiasm! We were so thrilled that you all seemed to be having a good time and that we didn't have to lock anyone in! For anyone who couldn't make it, here are some pictures of the school small kitchen's transformation to a cabin on the Titanic!

The decorators made such a good job of it. Well done you guys! We had the clues which were very devious but clever ...and not TOO hard... Great job clue makers!

The children were very excited to see the adults having a go.

The adults were just delighted to get out in one piece!

Well done Max for doing so well in karate!

Super Achievements!

Angus was a superstar in gymnastics...

Kirstie from the RSPCA came and we had a lot of fun playing the guess the animal/guess the danger game.

Janet came second and got a huge trophy!

What a productive week! Lots going on...

Shona was a fabulous model as we named parts of the body in French.

We did a thorough litter pick around the school. 11 bags full!!!

Dressing up for Children in Need was so much fun.

We did the Joe Wicks' Workout too...

Finally we visited the wonderful P5Bs stalls for Children in Need.

We had such a super trip to the cinema. No resemblance at all...

We pretended to be Film Critics, where our editor had only given us 100 words to write a review. No more, no less!

Scott did really well in his Kung fu this week.
