Clean Air Day 19th June 2025
Today is International Clean Air Day. To celebrate and promote the importance of clean air, our Eco Group and JRSO Group teamed up with the Highland Council to launch an Anti-Idling Campaign!
Clean Air Day aims to raise awareness of air quality, the health impacts of vehicle emissions, including pollution from car engine idling, and promote options for more active travel.
We hope that our Anti-Idling campaign will help to change behaviour amongst car users around our school by highlighting the negative impacts of engine idling.
You may have seen our pupil groups at the entrance of the school yesterday afternoon, sharing the key message from the campaign - stop idling!
For more info about engine idling please watch the short information film, made by our Eco Group, to raise awareness of the impacts of engine idling.
Our classes have also been busy designing posters for the campaign and a winner will be chosen by representatives from the Highland Council.
Air Quality Monitoring Project
This year, our school will be supporting the Air Quality Monitoring Project. This project, run by Highland Council, aims to raise awareness of air quality issues at Inverness Primary Schools, as part of a Scottish Government funded initiative to try and deter vehicle idling and encourage active travel.
Some of our ECO reps and JRSO reps met with one of the Scientific Officers from Highland Council to learn more about the project and to look at the equipment that will be used to measure air quality at our school.
The ECO Group and the JRSOs will be working together to support the project and help improve the air quality around our school!
