We currently offer the option of flexible Early Learning and Childcare.  This allows parents and carers the opportunity to choose their session to suit their needs. As part of the Scottish Government Early Learning and Childcare Expansion the current 600 free hours provided to each child per year will increase to 1140 hours from August 2020. Further details regarding this will be released by Highland Council.

In addition we offer breakfast club and after school provision for pupils up to Primary 7 age.

About Lochardil

We are a Gold Rights Respecting school and we currently have 348 pupils within P1-P7 and 80 children within our nursery. We also offer Wraparound Care for 20 children in the afternoon.

Lochardil Primary School strives to equip all learners with a variety of experiences for lifelong learning in a fun, stimulating, challenging and rewarding environment. We share a sense of pride and encourage each other to be the best we can be, where everyone feels safe, included, valued, respected, and able to contribute equally within the world.

Lochardil Primary School was built in 1964, at the same time as the Lochardil housing area was developed.

The school is situated in spacious grounds with a sports-field, grass and tarmac play areas and shelters. There are eight classrooms in the main teaching block, three classrooms in our upper school wing, two nursery rooms and a GP room in our second extension building and a further 2 classrooms in our final extension building to date. All rooms are well equipped and have open outlooks. There is an excellent hall with a wide range of P.E. equipment as well as a stage with curtains, spotlights and a digital roof-mounted projection system.

All the classrooms are well stocked with teaching materials and have areas set aside for class libraries. Additional library books and teaching resources are stored at several locations in the school.

The school is equipped with Chromebooks and Chromebook tablets.  Pupils in P6 and P7 have one individual Chromebook each and classes P3-P5 have Chromebooks based on a 1:5 ratio, as per Highland Council guidelines.  P1 and P2 pupils have Chromebook tablets based on this 1:5 ratio also.  The school also has a docking station which holds iPad for whole classes to schedule and book our to enhance the learning in the classroom.

School meals are cooked on the premises in the School Kitchen and served in the adjacent dining room.
