Congratulations to Paige, Layla and Nathan M, who were the winners of our Charity project competition. It was so hard to choose a winner, as everyone had worked so hard. I loved reading every single one of them. In the end, they won because of the impressive amount of detail, research and information in their projects. They were all fabulously presented too. Well done!

The rainbow is often used as a symbol of hope, peace and of new beginnings. We have included a rainbow along with an animal of our choosing in our calendars for 2023. We learned about ordering the colours of a rainbow and concentrated really hard on the detail of our drawings. We had to use use our eyes a lot to check that our detail was correct. We also used shading to highlight areas of light and dark to make our animals more realistic. We love the contrast created by grey and colour. Everyone did a brilliant job! Well done!

We have been sharing the rest of our charity projects with the class. Well done everyone. Your charities were well thought out, with a name a fabulous logo. You all thought about the resources you would need, including staffing and accommodation. You all created vision statements along with reasons why the work of your charity is important. The Breadwinner is a children's novel by Deborah Ellis. It was published in 2000. The book describes events in the life of 11 year-old Parvana, an Afghani girl who must disguise herself as a boy in order to become her family's breadwinner after her father is arrested by the Taliban. It is a fabulous book. The story is sensitively told and we are really enjoying it. We have been learning facts about the country of Afghanistan, where the Breadwinner is set. We have been developing our mapping skills by learning where to find it on a map.

We have been developing our knowledge of place value! We have been learning to partition numbers up to three decimal places. We have been counting up in tenths too. Please do not worry, the pens are wipe clean and the tables were easily cleaned afterwards! We had great fun!

Congratulations Niamh and Hazel!

Niamh and Hazel are our Stars of the Week this week for their fabulous work on decimals! Their enthusiasm, concentration and effort during maths was outstanding! Well done Niamh and Hazel!

Happy 'Back to School' week for this wonderful lot! It has been lovely to be back and see lots of smiles! I am delighted to introduce to you the fabulous bunch that is P6B!

Congratulations Omar!

Omar is our Star of the Week!

Omar is our Star of the Week for his fabulous first week in Lochardil. He has settled in so well with lots of smiles and confidence! We are delighted that he has joined our Lochardil family. Well done Omar!

We have been creating our Class Charter. We have used lots of emotion words to describe how it feels to be in a super school.  We have identified what the adults and pupils of Lochardil Primary can do to help our dream learning environment become a reality!

As part of Health and Well-being, we have learning about how believing in ourselves, and each other, can help us fly and achieve things we did not think we could! We learned that creative colouring and music can help us regulate our emotions too.

We have been developing our skills and knowledge of Place Value using randomly generated numbers. We were learning to identify the value of a digit, partition numbers, order numbers and we created sums which equalled our focus number.
