Welcome to our Class Blog where we will share information, class news and updates on your child's learning journey in P4A.
Word sorts activities give children the chance to build up a visual image of the different graphemes used to represent the sound that we hear.Â
We are learning spellings with the sound /j/
These words can be written using the following spelling patterns:
 /j/g/ge/dge
We completed a word sort activity to help us put each word/sound into the matching spelling pattern category.
Using Money - Making a Jacobite Weapon
This term for our high quality assessment task we were learning to:
use a budget to buy/hire materials to make Jacobite weapons.
You are a Jacobite Soldier preparing for battle and you need a weapon.
You have ÂŁ20 to spend.
Success Criteria
I can calculate how much items will cost up to the value of ÂŁ20.
I can use a variety of coins/notes to pay for items.
I can calculate how much change I will get if I pay with a ÂŁ20 note.
I can stick to a budget.
Some examples of our Highland Croft Models made out of Lego.
We are learning how the Jacobites lived.
On Thursday 2nd March 2023 we celebrated World Book Day. Throughout the day we visited a number of classes to take part in the fun activities they had organised.
In P4A, we had arranged for each class (p1 - P4) to do some transient art based on the Little Miss and Mr. Men Books. The children listened to a story and then had to go and recreate a self-portrait of one of the characters using natural materials.
P4A joined forces with P2/3 to share in their love of reading. They paired up to read aloud to each other.
Some of the things the Fire Brigade taught us...
"We must leave everything behind and use the nearest Fire Exit."
"Do not run and never hide!".
"Do not play with fire!"
"Matches and Lighters are not toys. Do not play with them!"
"Only press the fire button/call 999 if you see a real fire."
We brushed away the cobwebs and had that Friday Feeling!!!
Health and Wellbeing
At Lochardil we use the Calmer Classroom Mindfulness Relaxation Programme to support our mental health and wellbeing. This helps us be the best we can be and bring us back to the moment.

Active Learning
In maths we have been learning about digits, its place and value. We played games of hopscotch outdoors to help us recognise 2,3,4 and 5-digit numbers. In the classroom we played splat, fish a number, card games to reinforce our learning of number.
The Land of Roar by Jenny McLachlan is our book study for this term and we have been learning how to write a detailed character description of the two main characters. The class worked in pairs exploring a wide range of adjectives to describe Arthur and Rose and then used venn diagrams to highlight the similarities and differences between them. We had lots of fun writing on our desks!!!
Digital Literacy
Working Together
P7 helped us to complete a survey and showed us how to use the chrome books.

When we care about each other and our school community, we share what we have, respect ourselves, each other and the environment, listen carefully, help each other learn, work hard and always give our best effort and we have fun together.
We understand that everyone makes mistakes, we can learn from them. We look out for ourselves and others and when someone tells us to stop we stop.
This is who we are, even when noone is watching.
