Refugee Week- 20th- 27th June
For Refugee Week we talked about the war in Ukraine and how lots of people have had to leave the country because of the war. We learned some simple greetings in Ukrainian.
24/522- Models
Today we started making models as part of our topic on electricity. The model has to light up in some way, some of the children have designed animals with lightbulbs for their nose or eyes. Others are making spaceships and buildings. We will post some photos of the finished models.
10/5/22- Circuits
Today we made a bulb light up using wires, a bulb and batteries.
After that we were challenged to make a switch using cardboard, paper fasteners and a paper clip. With a bit of help we all managed to make a switch to make our bulb go on and off!
We had lots of fun!
26/04/22- Sound
We have been looking at how sounds are created and today we looked at how high and low pitched sounds are created.
We filled the test tubes with different amounts of water then blew over the top of them to create high and low sounds.
It was a very noisy afternoon!!
29/03/22 - Castle Silhouettes
We created marbling backgrounds and then drew castle silhouettes to put on the backgrounds.
We think they look really amazing!
Red Nose Day Fun - 18/3/22
We had lots of fun today for Red Nose Day. We watched a power point about Red Nose Day, designed our own red nose characters and had a quiz.

Measuring- 7/3/22
Today we were using measuring tapes to measure the distance around parts of our bodies and objects in the classroom.
Fairtrade Facts- 4/3/22
We made Fairtrade logos and wrote some facts about what the Fairtrade Foundation is and more importantly what it does to support farmers and farm workers around the world.
Medieval Castles- 14/2/22
We used drawing pencils to create these amazing castles.
Safer Internet Day- 2022
Today is Safer Internet Day, this years theme is- All Fun and Games?
We watched a video about being respectful online, this created lots of discussion about experiences we had had playing online games.
We talked about what you should do if someone is not being kind to you online.
We then created posters about being respectful online.
Robert Burns- 25/1/22
Today we celebrated Burns Night by painting kilts, reading stories in Scots and listening to songs in Scots.
Rights of the Child - 25/1/22
We have been going over The Rights of the Child.
Rights are things that every child should have or be able to have. We created posters to illustrate some of our rights.
24.01.22 - Building Castles
Having looked at the main parts of a castle, each table is having a go at making a Scottish Castle. When they are complete we will show you and you have to guess which castle each one is. No cheating though!
18.1.22 - Paul Klee
We looked at the artist Paul Klee, then we had a go a creating his famous pictures- Cat and Bird. We took inspiration from his painting, Castle and Sun to create our own castles. We are very pleased with our pictures although using the pastel crayons for the castles was a bit messy!

We have been working on 3D shape so today we had a go at making skeleton models of cubes. We enjoyed it but found it quite tricky!

Climate Changers!
Today we all planted conkers and sweet chestnut seeds. Hopefully one day they will grow into big trees that will help to stop Climate Change!

I can't believe that the first week is over all ready! Here is a list of some of the work we have covered this week-
Maths- coordinates and calendar work
Language- Halloween poems and similes
Topic- COP 26 and we started looking at Climate Change. Team building activities
French- Days of the week
PE- Gymnastics
Science- Pumpkin Experiment
Art- Climate Change pictures
As you can see we have covered a lot of work and the children have all worked really hard. We had a dress up/ down day today, it was lovely to see all the different costumes. We also created a' Promise Tree', we made up promises to help our planet. We have started reading books by Dick King Smith and are currently listening to The Guard Dog. Have a lovely weekend and we'll see you all on Monday.

A secret diary and a magnifying glass??!!

Some pictures of our new P4 classroom, it is lovely and bright. We have been getting used to the class routines again and we have all had a fun week.
This week we have identified learning targets which are our next steps in Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing. They are displayed on the guitars we made in art.... Rocking Resolutions!! Once a target is reached you can chose a song to sing, listen to or dance to in class. Until then we'll be subjected to Mrs MacLelland's 80's classics!! :-)
