P3/4 Class Blog 2021-2022

Welcome to the P3/4 Class Blog!

Friday 1st April 2022

Good Afternoon,

We have reached the end of term 3!  What busy last week of term we have had.

We went to view the wonderful Heartstone Project in the hall on Wednesday afternoon, it was just fabulous.  Yesterday afternoon we had our Easter assembly which the children enjoyed.  We also managed to watch Matilda.  The children and I really enjoyed watching it, thank you for giving your permission to watch it in class.

Below is a snapshot of our week.

Have a wonderful Easter break.

Claire Gray

Good Morning,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and had a chance to enjoy the sunshine.

I have attached some photos from last week.

We have been reading Matilda as our class novel and hope to finish it shortly.  I am hoping to watch Matilda with the class this week, but I need your permission for your child to watch it in class with us.  I popped the permission google form on the classroom and I have had 4 responses so far.  I would appreciate if you could complete the form on our google classroom so I can make arrangements for the children not able to watch the film.

Have a good week.

Good Evening,

Once again our school week started bright with our outdoor play session from CALA, we are really noticing the brighter mornings and afternoons.

We have been busy with our castle topic this week and the classroom has turned into a castle building site which we will share with you all on our open morning (virtually) next week.

Miss MacDonald has posted on our classroom this afternoon a letter for Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine that Lochardil would like to support, so any donation from the list would be very gratefully received.

Thank you to everyone that has returned the key assessment task and for your feedback.  Any still at home can be returned on Monday.

Below is a snapshot of our week.

Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing the children on Monday.

Good Afternoon,

I hope this message finds you all well?  Was lovely to meet you all at parents night.  There is a feedback google form that has been posted on the classroom for you to complete if you get a chance.

Lots of excitement in school today with all the snow showers and lots of children hopeful it will last the weekend and get out on their sledges!

Unfortunately our CALA session was cancelled on Monday, but the children should be prepared for it this Monday morning and make sure they are wrapped up warm and a good idea to pack a change of  clothes too.

Hardly any pictures taken this week in class as it was so full on, but I do have some from last week that I didn't manage to post.  They are below.

As always, if you have any concerns, please get in touch.  Have a lovely weekend.

Friday 21st January 2021

Good Afternoon,

I hope this blog message finds you all well.  We've had a great week in P3/4 once again, busy, busy, busy!  Below are pictures of some of our week.  We started our week with Connie from CALA and our outdoor play session.  Also, we  have been working really hard in maths with our multiplication.  Finally, towards the end of the week we have been looking at the artist Paul Klee and using our knowledge of 2D shapes to create a castle like Paul Klee has done, this has also linked nicely to our castle topic.  Just a snap shot of our week.

Thank you to those that have booked their parents evening appointment to see me either next Wednesday or Thursday.  There is still time to book in if you haven't had a chance yet.  The booking system closes on Sunday night.  The link to the booking page is on our classroom.  Very much looking forward to 'meeting' you all.

Please find attached a copy of our class plan for term 3.

Enjoy the pictures and have a lovely weekend,

Claire Gray

Good Afternoon,

Jam packed week we have had in P3/4.  We started out week outdoor with Connie the Active Play Practitioner from CALA.  They children had a super time and we look forward to seeing Connie again on Monday.  A reminder to wrap up warm again and pack a change of clothes just in case.

We have started looking at our topic for this term 'Scottish Castles' and having a discussion around what we know, what we want to find out and how we can find out the information.  We have been working on our French as well as our story writing.

Lots of photos attached today too.  Have a super weekend.

Hello and Happy New Year to you all,

Short first week back, but we have been busy in class.  Today we had our class PE slot in the hall and lots of smiley faces during our warm up game of tag and then during dodge ball - photo's below.

On Monday we start our 11 week outdoor active play programme.  It will no doubt be cold and maybe wet, so a change of clothes would be great and the children wrapped up coming to school too.

We also have a 4 week online block of Kodaly (singing) starting on Monday afternoon, which the children really enjoyed the last time we had a session.

Have a lovely weekend,

Claire Gray

Please see the letter on Google Classroom with information about an exciting opportunity for the children in P3/4.  Starting in January, they will be participating in an Active Play programme.

Good Afternoon,

Just a few things.

Tomorrow is the Christmas lunch in school.  Only options are the traditional Christmas lunch or the vegetarian option.  There will be no sandwiches, so if your child is not keen on the Christmas lunch option they will need a packed lunch.

Our class Christmas party will be next Thursday 16th December in the morning.

I think that is it, but if I have forgotten something, please ask.

Have a lovely evening,

Claire Gray

Tuesday 30th November 2021

Good Morning,

I was wondering if the children could bring in a Christmas jumper or top this Friday 3rd December.  We are going to be recording a song we have been practicing and the children wearing a festive jumper or top would add to the video.

Many thanks,

Claire

Good Afternoon,

The children have been fantastic this week and it has been great to be back in the class with them.

We have been busy as this week has been Anti-Bullying week and Children in Need.  The children made super bunting for Anti-Bullying week with the focus #onekindword.  This is hanging up in our stairwell for everyone to see (I'll add a photo shortly).

We also took part in Joe Wicks PE session for Children in Need this morning, the children had a great time working out and answering quiz questions at the same time!  We then cooled down with Dr Ranj and a mindfulness session.

Have a super weekend.

Good Afternoon,

What a busy week we have had again in P3/4!

I have attached the overview for term 2 for you to have a look at, at home.

This week we have been continuing to follow COP26 as well as learning about Remembrance Day.  We have started to make a poppy wreath out of the water/juice bottles the children took into school.  We hope to complete our poppy wreath on Monday so it can be hung in the canteen for the school to see.  I have many pictures of the children making their poppies with I will upload shortly.

Have a super weekend and once again, any questions or concerns, please get in touch.

Friday 29th October 2021

Good Afternoon,

It has been lovely to see the children after the October break.

This week we have been learning about COP26 in class and as part of our COP26 learning we have created a promise tree.  Each child has had a chance to write on a leaf for our tree a promise to our planet.  The children have done a wonderful job of decorating the leaves, flowers, bees and butterflies to add to our promise tree display.  It is still work in progress, but I have attached a picture of the tree so far.  I have also added some pictures of the children working on their leaves today too.

Have a lovely weekend.

Thursday 28th October 2021

Good Morning,

I wonder if you are able to collect plastic juice/water bottles for me please.  I am looking to do a craft with the children.  The bottles can be the 500ml or the large litre bottle size, but they need to be clear.

Many thanks,

Claire Gray

Term 1 P3/4 2021-2022

Thursday 7th October 2021

Good Morning,

I hope this message finds you all well?

Wow what a busy, fast term we have had in P3/4!  Normally we would have an open afternoon and invite you all into the classroom to see what we have been up to and for you to get a chance to meet me too.  Unfortunately, that is not possible at the moment due to the ongoing restrictions.  So, we have created a google slide for you to watch at home with our highlights.  Press the present button at the top of the page of the google slide to watch to slide show.

Have a lovely day,

Claire Gray
