8th September 2021

As part of our topic this term, the boys and girls have been learning about our community, and specifically our school.  We took a walk around the school grounds to tick off lots of things our school has on our scavenger hunt list and we also found three more things to draw that our school has which not all schools are lucky enough to have - a MUGA and a secret garden!

We wanted to find out more about our school, so we managed to put Mrs Kellacher in the hot seat and ask her some really tricky questions!  Did you know that our school is 57 years old?  Did you know that Mr Mackie was the very first head teacher, followed by Mrs Caddell and then Mrs Kellacher?  Also the first children to come to Lochardil school were only in Primary 3!!

We have been reading, 'The Invisible String' by Patrice Karst.  We have re-made a scene from the book where our invisible strings can reach as dar as the deep deep ocean!  We have also decorated our own hearts with very important people and pets in our lives that our invisible strings connect to!

30th August 2021

We have been very busy learning some new letter sounds.  We have been making crafts to link with each sound.  Here are some pictures of us making snakes and turtles for 's' and 't'.

As some of you will already be aware, we are a Rights Respecting School at Lochardil, which means we value pupil voice and take everyone's opinions into account across the school.  It is therefore important to create a class charter at the beginning of the year so pupils can explain what they would like from us as adults in the school to make it a happy, fun and safe place to be and also to realise what they need to do as individuals to make Lochardil the best it can be!  Here we are creating our robot themed class charter during our first week in Primary 1 and we will refer back to it's contents throughout the year ahead!

During our first week we read the story called, 'The Crayon Box that Talked' by Shane DeRolf.  It is a story about all of us being different and unique which should be celebrated.  However, when we all come together we make a wonderful team/class!  Here are some photos of our finished crayon box display in our classroom!

We would like to introduce you to our P1 Schoolbag Buddies!  These little creatures have started Primary 1 at exactly the same time as us!  They were very nervous yesterday but all the children were so gentle and looked after their schoolbag buddy superbly so the nervous buddies turned into very excited school bag buddies!  The schoolbag buddies will be coming home for adventures in the future, but for now they are settling into life at Lochardil and I am sure they will be really happy with their Primary 1 buddy looking after them!

Here are all of the Primary 1 superstars taking part in a fun photo booth on their very first day of school!  Definitely a picture for the memory box!
