This week we have been creating self portraits in the style of Romero Britto. We used bright and bold colours and shapes to make positive, joyful self portraits. We learned that he is the most licensed artist of all time.
Have a look at our work.

What a fabulous week we have had!
We have been learning about musical timing and keeping a beat with Feis Rois and we have been given tin whistles to learn to play the tin whistle. We have learned to play three notes with the tine whistle. We are keeping them in school just now and practising in school, but they may be taken home after our time with Feis Rois.
We have been learning about the artist Andy Goldsworthy and we had a go creating our own shapes using materials round about us. We learned how to use shape and space to represent objects and nature from our everyday life.
We named our pieces of art. They are:
Cube
The Rainbow Treehouse
Swirlie Girlies
Stick Spiral
The Stonehouse
Pen Spiral
Initials L and A
Can you guess which piece of art is which by looking at them?

We have been loving learning about Ancient Greeks. This week we have been learning about Ancient Greek fashion and Greek god and goddesses. We learned about the Greek god Hygeia and what it was like to visit her temple. We learned that the Greeks used herbs to cure and prevent illnesses and ailments. We had a go matching the herb/oil to the ailments that the Greeks used to prevent.

We had a brilliant time learning about the artist Eduardo Paulozzi. We looked at his sculptures and had a go at creating our own scuptures out of paper. We had one rule - we could not use Sellotape or glue, so we looked at other methods of connecting the paper together.
We have also been learning how to read music!
Congratulations to Harriet! She is our Star of the Week for her fabulous enthusiasm and effort in maths this week. You did a fabulous job of additions and subtractions. Well done Harriet from all of us!
