Shapes!
Yesterday we started learning about shapes and reminding ourselves what some 2D shapes look like. We had a go at drawing the shapes and using our phonics to try to write the names of the shapes. There are some tricky phonics in the shape names but we all had a go and tried our best! We also used wooden shapes to create some pictures and played a shape sorting game on the Chromebooks.
High Quality Assessment Tasks will be sent home today so please check school bags to have a look at what your child has been learning this term :)

We have begun learning how to play basketball for PE. We started this week by learning how to do a controlled chest pass to a partner. We also played some dribbling games.

Hope everyone had a good long weekend! Even though we had a shorter week in school we still managed to fit in lots of learning!
We have been exploring maps in maths and have been learning about how to use coordinates on a map to find certain objects. On Friday, we linked our learning of maps to our IDL topic (Life in Lochardil) where we created some maps of our local area. We had a look at Google Maps to see what a map looks like and then everyone had a go at creating their own maps.

P2 have had a busy week!
We have been learning about prepositions in maths this week and had to listen really carefully to hear where to draw some different objects on our playground pictures. We were concentrating so hard on our listening we had to have a wee dance break half way through. Everyone enjoyed showing their best moves!
We also had our celebration assembly today, where we got to congratulate those who have stood out so far this term. Congratulations to Samuel and Ikha! Well done to you both!
Just a reminder that school is closed to pupils on Monday and Tuesday next week. Have a wonderful long weekend!

Can't believe that week 3 is over already! Pupils have all settled back into school routines well and are enjoying P2 so far.
This week we took our maths outdoors to create some symmetrical patterns using natural resources and also played a fun game where we have to mirror our partner. We have also explored Sumdog using the Chromebooks, so look out in home work packs next week for your login cards.
Our class book is The Owl Who is Afraid of the Dark. In the story, the main character, Plop gets to watch some fireworks, so today we decided to make some firework pictures to display next to our owls we created last week.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday!
In P2 today we continued exploring symmetry by creating some symmetrical patterns and objects using different resources around the classroom. We had a lot of fun making flowers, and patterns!
This afternoon, we continued with our story, The Owl Who is Afraid of the Dark, and created our own version of Plop using a variety of different materials such as feathers, felt, crayons, pens and googly eyes!
Happy weekend to all!

We have had a busy day in P2 today!
We started off our morning with some Maths. We discussed what we thought symmetry was and then we had a go at creating some symmetrical flowers, matching some symmetrical mini beasts, creating some symmetrical butterflies and explored a matching game on the Chromebooks. Everyone really enjoyed all the tasks!
We also had a PE lesson this afternoon, where we played some games focusing on being aware of who was around us as we moved around the hall and played some games together.

We will be starting reading books in class this week and Home Learning activities will begin next week - further details will be on the Learning Overview
P.E - Thursday afternoon and Friday morning
Please send in a pair of soft gym shoes for indoor P.E and we will keep these in our class trays. Remember shorts and t-shirts for P.E. Hopefully we will be outside for P.E if the weather stays good. Soft gym shoes will also be used to provide a change of footwear when required.
Please be reminded we have a no nut policy in school. It is vitally important that children do not have any nut products for snacks or in lunch boxes (cereal bars, chocolate spreads etc) Please check with the school office if you have any queries re this or if your child has any nut allergies.
Many thanks for all your support and looking forward to another exciting week in P2A
