Friday 7th November
Our P3 pupils had a truly enchanting experience this week when the Scottish Opera came to our school to perform The Giant’s Harp.
The story followed a magical harp who had sadly lost her magic. Two brave heroes set off on an exciting journey around the world to help her find it again! Along the way, the children were swept up in the music, storytelling, and adventure — joining in with songs and actions as the tale unfolded before their eyes.
One of the most special moments was hearing a real harp being played live, right there in the hall! The children were amazed by the beautiful sound and loved seeing the instrument up close.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to experience live performance, music, and theatre in such an interactive and imaginative way. Thank you to the Scottish Opera for bringing The Giant’s Harp — and a little bit of musical magic — to P3!

Exploring 2D Shapes
This week, P3 have been busy learning all about 2D shapes! We’ve been discovering their names and properties — talking about sides, corners, and what makes each shape special.
To help us learn, we took part in lots of fun, hands-on activities. We made our own 2D shapes from playdough, played a lively game of “Roll a Monster” with our partners, and used our peg boards to create and explore different shapes. A big thank you to our Parent Council for helping us buy the peg boards — they’ve been a brilliant addition to our classroom and have made our shape learning even more exciting!

What a Fantastic End to Term 1! 🎉
Our last day of Term 1 was packed with lots of fun and laughter! We came to school in our 'Dress to Express' clothes and paid a donation towards UNICEF. One of the highlights of the day was getting to play football with players from ICTFC! After that, we danced the morning away at our very own P3 Disco! It was the perfect way to finish a fabulous first term together. Well done, Primary 3 – we are so proud of everything you’ve achieved so far.

After reading The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, our Primary 3 pupils were truly inspired to take action to help protect our planet. 🌳💚 The story’s message about caring for the environment really struck a chord with the children — they understood how important it is to look after our trees and keep our world beautiful for everyone.
Together, the class brainstormed ways to make a difference right here at school. One fantastic idea quickly stood out: plant more trees around our school grounds!
With lots of enthusiasm, the children worked together to the dig holes and plant the saplings. They were so proud to be making a real, lasting difference.
Now, every time we walk past the trees, we’ll be reminded of how small actions can grow into something wonderful. Just like the message in The Lorax, our P3 pupils learned that “unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” .
Well done, Primary 3🌱🌍

Outdoor Maths Week
This week, P3 left the classroom behind and headed outside to explore time in a fun and active way. First, we made a huge human clock, where some of us were the hands of the clock! We worked together to show different times – it was a great way to understand how clocks work.
After that, we played some team games, where we were racing to make the correct times. It was all about speed, teamwork, and using what we've learned about telling the time.
We had great fun learning maths outdoors!
Friday 19th September
This week, we had a fantastic visit from Natalie Moore, the STEM Engagement Lead for the Transport Scotland A96 projects (Jacobs). Natalie came into school to deliver sessions on Sustainable Development and UNCRC.
As part of the session, we played a fun game called "What Living Things Need." We had to think carefully about what animals, plants, and people all need to survive and thrive. It helped us understand how everything is connected and why it's so important to look after our environment.

Designing Bird Feeders – Helping Nature Like the Lorax!
As part of our IDL topic The Lorax, Primary 3 have been learning all about how to care for our environment – and this week, we’ve been designing and decorating our very own bird feeders! We used our creative skills to come up with colourful, eye-catching designs that will brighten up our quiet garden and help feed the local birds. The wood we’re using to build the feeders has been recycled from old pallets, which means we’re helping the planet by reusing materials too!
Next week, we’ll be using our technology skills to carefully assemble the feeders – thinking about structure, stability, and how to hang them safely outside.
We’re excited to see our designs come to life and proud to be making a difference, just like the Lorax!
This week in Maths, Primary 3 have been learning all about telling the time – both on analogue and digital clocks! We used fun games and hands-on activities to help us practise. One of our favourites was making our own clock hands using playdough to show different times.
Great job, time experts!
Friday 5th September
This week in P.E., Primary 3 have been working hard to improve our ball handling skills! We took part in fun activities and games that helped us practise throwing, catching, bouncing, and rolling the ball with control. We learned how to use two hands to catch safely and how to aim carefully when passing to a partner.
Well done, P3!

Have a lovely weekend!
Friday 22nd August
What a fantastic first week back we've had in Primary 3! The children have come back full of energy and ready to learn. We've had a very busy few days settling into our new routines, getting to know each other, and jumping straight into some exciting learning activities.
This week, we especially enjoyed doing some painting. We’ve been exploring our emotions and linking emotion words with behaviours through art. The children showed great creativity and thoughtfulness in their work.
It was a joy to see all these smiling faces today!
