Just a quick note to say that we're just going to go for it and do our show on the Open Afternoon.

It's the 2nd of June, so we have a lot to do in the next couple of weeks, but I have every faith in these little performers!

Excellent Project Talks!

We have started to hear the children's talks about their Personal Passion Projects. So interesting. What a lot of work from the children and all their helpers at home. Thank you so much!

Great Day Out!

Primary 5 went on an exciting day out last week to the Glasgow Science Museum. Unfortunately the P6 children weren't there, but they will be going to Dundee soon with the other P6 class.

The P5s had a great time. What a long day though! But well worth it. Thank you so much to our parent helpers. Particularly Mrs MacPhail, who stood in at the last minute. Here are some photos of our day.

An egg-citing start to the week! (sorry...)

We started the week with our traditional Easter egg drop. There were some interesting ideas...and some actually worked!

The children were given a chance to bid for their materials. They then had to construct their eggy capsules!

Then we launched them from a great height!

Then we started on scenery, costumes, choreography and scripts for our upcoming show, probably in June. Details to follow!

Only a week to go till we break up! Where does time go?

Thank you once again for taking part in our Open Morning activities. Our Book Swap was a lot of fun! The children took pictures.

For a follow up to reading in groups, the children can show their understanding of the text through various activities such as quizzes and drama. 

Firstly this week we had a Blooket Quiz about different breeds of dog from some of the P5 boys...

Then some fabulous drama from the girls in the cucumber group...

...bit wet but The Show MUST go ON!

Then the P6 boys made a Blooket Quiz all about the TWITS.

We have added a lot to our French town. It's called Ville de Beau!

More learning through FUN!

We were trying some 'object' drama to get the creative juices flowing!

We were making posters and we used Diamond 9s to prioritise the most important parts that cannot be left out.

Lastly, we were making posters for a Book Swap event happening during Open Morning a week on Thursday. Look out for details online!

Spring has Sprung!

We are going to cover the ceiling with daffodils! This is useful for deadening sound and making it easier for everyone to hear in the class!

We made 'cranes for peace' for decorating the school. Our beautiful rainbow ones are in the foyer.

We were working on patterns of symmetry as well.

All good fun!

A lot of work covered this week, but lots of enjoyment too.

In P5 maths we have been looking at equivalent fractions! I thought I'd share one that Zane came up with...

We are making French characters for our little French village...

More to follow about them. The primary 5s have been helping a stranger from the Land of Questor. Ask them about it. I am denying all knowledge...

We had a frantic competition between the children to complete some loop cards...

P5 won. They didn't rub it in at all! NOT

(they are running through to tell the p6 they are finished!)

Reading Week Fun!

Monday we did a scavenger hunt for teachers' favourite authors.

On Tuesday we had a whole school 'Drop Everything and Read' session.

Wednesday we had Caley Thistle players visiting to read to us, and we read to P2A

We highlighted features of a persuasive essay from a model text too....

Lots going on this week!

Miss Pasek was doing more division with a group.

We were making interesting mandalas using compasses...

Sophie and a friend from Balloch taught us a lot about Deaf Awareness in a super presentation. We had activities to try out too!

Miss Pasek took the children in a very interesting lesson about emotions.

The fabulous Scottish Ballet workshop was a lot of fun.

Ethan and Tilly were very good at winning some points this week!

We had a great game of Fractions Bingo yesterday...and some Desk Drumming today!

Welcome back to the LOOOONG term! We have a new student teacher this term, so a warm welcome to Miss Pasek!

We are making a French village using a lot of the vocabulary we have already learnt, and lots more to come. First the 'families' decided on French names for themselves, and who they were in the family...

...then they drew themselves as their new character...

Miss Pasek was working with the p5s helping them to understand how to multiply decimals by ten.

Meanwhile, the P6 group were looking at Fractons, percentages and decimals.

Lots of Christmas FUN!!!

We made some lovely snowflakes to decorate the classroom. They look very complicated, but there is only really one tricky bit.

We made some very complex coordinate drawings. The P6 children did simpler ones last year, but the Rudolph one this year was incredibly difficult so well done them! 

Thank you to everyone who could make it to our lovely Open Morning. The 'Snowman' Drive was a lot of fun. And the children were so good at the Ronettes Sleigh Ride!

Finally, our parties. A lot of food and a lot of shenanigans!

Oh my goodness...what a lot of things we've done!

We started off last week with Mrs P finally remembering to do a Blooket Quiz! All about telling time...

We were making wonderful lego structures, to illustrate how imaginative and individual we can be. Life is like a box of lego...!

Mrs Johnson gave us Christmas activities to do for some start of the day fun. We particularly enjoyed the AI site where you could 'Elf Yourself!'

We are doing a series of quick lessons where the children have to write every day for 15 mins. We are focusing on sentences. It seems to be a problem in all areas of education that children are not using capitals and full stops. We are trialling this technique, so it is early days...

We had a wee game of Time Bingo...

...finally, we have been rehearsing a special treat for you! Secret!

Some French, clay and beautiful autumn trees...

We were learning some of the smaller classroom objects in French, and playing a game of elimination to practise the words.

We started to make some clay leaves. Biggest problem is that it is very sticky so you have to keep making sure you can take it off whatever surface you are working on!

At the same time, we are finishing off the autumnal trees...

Newspapers and poppies!

The children were looking at the features of a newspaper, so they could try to make their own newspaper report look authentic. They highlighted the features, and annotated them at the side.

We painted some HUGE poppies for Memorial Day on the 11th. They look very effective! Great job P5/6.

Well done to Lewis for winning so many medals at Taekwondo!

Welcome back to a very interesting week.

The children began the week by playing a drama game called SNAP! They have to each dramatise something they got up to on holiday, and then when I say SNAP! they hold still, and the rest of us have to guess what they are trying to show. Can you guess from these pictures?

They then wrote about their holiday experiences in their diaries too.

We were making pumpkins for the Hallowe'en Disco 

We had such a good time at the UHI Newton Room. The children were: recreating the digestive system, checking for bacteria, performing surgery to remove a gall stone, looking at slides of healthy and unhealthy cells and performing a biopsy of a real pigs lung. They were reluctant at first with the more gross things, but very quickly, (and alarmingly!) got stuck in. Thank you to our parent helpers who, like me, probably learnt a lot too!
